  • From May 31st till 19th July, we saw a record increase in average discounts from 24.17% to 29.18%, with end of season sales going live across the fashion industry and extending to the 4th of July weekend. Since then, we have been seeing a decline in average discounts.
  • Discounts saw a significant decrease after Trump imposed tariffs on Chinese imports in August 2019. Discounts decreased from 21.5% in August to 18% in September and then further down to 16.5% in October due to resultant increase in marked price.

  • The freshness rates for March (15.24%) and April 2020 (15.72%) were nearly double of what we saw for the same period during the last year. This increase comes at the time when stores were made to remain shut due to COVID-19, making retailers add their in-store inventory, online.
  • With June and July bringing in the end of season and clearance sales, freshness rates fell, as, during this period retailers try to clear out old stock and hold on to the fresh stock for the next season.
